KAUSS
TWELVE YEARS
MALE | Straight
FAE | Grizzly bear
7 deadly sins, Harlequin "King" sin of sloth
ABILITIES | PERSONALITY |
Despite being at an age where he should at least understand the base of his own abilities, Kauss has yet know how his powers even work. Simply because he hasn't been taught the ins and outs of his own magic by his own kind. So he doesn't have control over his abilities. But he does have them and has used them several unsteady times in the past. 1. Elemental: Light Control of light seems to be a power that he's able to control at different times. He's drawn energy from it similar to plants when they do photosynthesis, exploded lightbulbs in times of extreme stress, and expelled bright light from his own hands. But this has only come through complete instinct and in times of great fear and stress. If he's able to come to control his powers he'd even be able to bend light in such a way that he could trick people into seeing something that they're not. But at this point, doing something like that is entirely on accident and cannot be done on a whim. 2. Elemental: Shadow Similar to His light element, Kauss has very little control over his shadow element. Since shadow is simply the absence of light, Kauss has been known to see figures in the darkness that aren't actually there (which are his own doing), be able to tell someone's emotions vaguely by looking at someone's shadows, and also having tripped over several people's shadows even just on accident. If come to full control, Kauss would potentially be able to use shadows to make illusions, be a very scary opponent in battle due to being able to sense emotions and movements, and even shadow travel (only if he has complete control of his shadow abilities). 3. Shifter Focus: Weapons This has only happened on a halfway level, but being able to transform himself into several different kinds of melee weapons he has sometimes been able to transform his fingers into sharp needles or blades. Once having shot an explosion from his hand when he was threatened. But that's only happened once and he hasn't been able to shoot explosions from his hand or any other part of his body since. At full potential, Kauss could transform into something similar to the weapons on Soul Eater, where his own energy is used as bullets if he becomes a gun, or as a protective cover if he becomes something sharp. 4. Sight: This seems to be the only ability that Kauss doesn't need to "control" as it is completely instinctual. Being able to see other fae and different creatures that can also see him has only been considered traumatic. He doesn't understand what it means, except that he is a freak and different from the "human beings" that somehow had possession of him. 5. Vampiric: There was one time where he bit one of the white coats in order to escape a particularly painful experiment which then caused his hand to explode in the white coat's face. Of course, he'd been in very deep trouble for that one as that white coat ended up dying a couple hours later. Because the movement had terrified even him, he hasn't tried to bite anyone since. However, there have been times where he's woken up with his roommate lacking energy and him having more than enough to resist the rest of the day. This always happens the night after a particularly life draining experimentation. | 1. Childish: Despite all of the hardships that Kauss has been through he's still very much a child and acts like it. He loves to laugh and joke when he feels comfortable around someone, is a trickster (mostly on the white coats when he can be), and desires love and affection. He doesn't remember his parents or even anyone before he came to the labs, but his desire for a mother or father is still there. Though there is so much less hope for that than desire. 2. Distrusting: If you can believe it, Kauss is not a very trusting person, not even of other experiments or Fae. Everyone is guilty until proven innocent. People may be treated differently, but they are all held at arm's length so that he doesn't get hurt. He's very shallow in his relationships and very rarely talks about how he's actually feeling with people. He bottles up his emotions to the point where he could explode at any time if pushed hard enough, and believe me, he's been pushed despite his young age. Betrayal is a constant belief, and Kauss will always see the darkness in people's hearts, even those he knows well. 3. Memory Loss: There isn't very much of his youngest years that he remembers. In fact, the last thing he remembers is a burning tree in the middle of the night and then blacking out. But other than that, Kauss has little care for his past as his future seems to be more important. Just having enough energy to face the day is harsh on his body without him also trying to bring up painful thoughts and memories that only bring despair. His mind has darkened them for a reason after all. He's not ready to see those yet. 4. Apathetic: For the most part, Kauss tends to be very apathetic, his emotions being stuffed in a treasure chest somewhere within the depths of his mind. Even during most experiments, he'll be completely cooperative. Only during particularly torturous experiments does he fight back in whatever way his mind activates them. This includes using his powers when necessary to protect himself. But this only happens when he believes he's in danger and when he's in a blind panic. Only when he believes he's going to die. Otherwise, to the white coats at least, he's blank faced and cooperative, not wanting any trouble. 5. Sympathetic: Just because he doesn't trust anyone doesn't mean he can't care about anyone. He knows when shadows follow people around and when light is the dominant element within a person's heart. He knows that there are other victims in his position and that he isn't the only one. Other people would be the only other reason why he would fight back. There are other experiments that Kauss cares about and would do anything to protect them. He's not heartless. He also knows when a person is weaker than himself and needs him to care for them. Not that he would know how, but he would do everything he could to do so. 6. No Gifts: Unless he will be returning the favor in some way, Kauss does not accept gifts well. He doesn't believe in the idea of giving because of kindness. There is always some hidden objective or way of betrayal. There were too many times where he's accepted things from people and has only gotten hurt and pain. So don't expect him to be grateful if you try to give him anything, or if you do some kind of good deed for him. If you do a good deed for him, he will expect to repay the favor and vice versa. 7. Instinctual: Everything this boy does is instinctual. He doesn't know how to read or write, and other forms of intelligence escape his grasp, so in order for him to survive, instinct is his only choice. Split second decisions are often the way this boy acts, which can sometimes get him into even greater trouble. 8. Afraid: There is a lot that Kauss is afraid of. I know shocker. He's very much a child with a wild imagination but also has very good reason to be. Fire specifically is a major fear of his. He absolutely won't go anywhere near it, despite the light that radiates from the flames. He's also afraid to be alone and isolated, and he's terrified of being in very enclosed spaces. During these situations, he can often shut completely down or go into a blind panic. 9. Emotional: Despite hiding these most of the time, Kauss really is an emotional child who often cries, laughs, reacts, and has many emotions. Most of the time, these emotions are reserved to be shown when he's by himself or when he's with other experiments that he's "close" to. Mostly laughter and other "positive" emotions are shown to others. 10. Imaginative: As a child, Kauss is automatically very imaginative, but the simple fact that he's a young Fae enhances this trait. He can often times be a little bit over imaginative as he has incredible nightmares, can be cleaver with his tricks and pranks, but also when he's given a picture he can imagine the exact goings on, often being dragged out into entire stories. Stories. He loves stories. He loves being told stories of any kind, and he loves telling stories. He'll tells stories a lot. This also, includes a lot of lying. If he has accidentally broken something then he would normally come up with large extravagant stories of how that item was desimated by ninjas or elves. |
HISTORY | |
It all started out with his treehouse in the woods. His parents didn't normally like to bring Kauss anywhere near the humans as they were dangerous creatures. But they weren't exactly trusting of their own kind either, so Kauss never got to be around other child Fae. He was a happy little boy though, always wanting to be with his partents and help them with what they were doing, even though he didn't know how to do what they did. His father was a metal worker and worked with creating strong and beautiful weapons, with the element of metal and shadow, he did well in fighting to protect the land belonging to the Fae. HIs mother on the other hand was a beautiful Fae with the elements of light and health. She was a healer. And yet, they still did not trust the people of their own kind. Believing that setting down into a peaceful bit of land would keep their child safe. At two years old, everything in Kauss's life changed. He was abducted. No one knew how their treehouse was found. Nor why they only took the child and the wings of his parents, but he was missing from that day on. The rumor was that the parents themselves had burnt down the tree. And that Kauss had been hidden somewhere, but he'd been stolen. He was taken to a place where no love was administered, nor was nurishment consistant. Sometimes he would eat or drink, and sometimes he wouldn't be allowed to. Punishments were harsh and fear was expected. To protect himself from becoming non-existant Kauss was forced to hide and obey. He was terrified most of the time, and yet could not allow himself to be consumed by fear. By the age of seven years, Kauss became consistant in his behavior. Reacting to pain, but pushing away the emotions in order to survive. She had succeeded in slipping through his armor though. That one white coat. She was kind to him. Even gave him a pillow that he now carries with him wherever he goes. She cared for him, hugged him, comforted him. He let her in too deep. To the point where he would even go to her when he was afraid, if he could. She fed him when he wasn't allowed food, even treated wounds when he had them. But it was all for ruse. She betrayed him. He allowed her close enough and she stole his wings. She had caused him the most pain out of them all. Taking away the only thing that reminded him of what he was. Never again would he trust. Never again would he allow himself to be persuaded into a corner. She died, in the hospital bed a couple hours after the operation. She had been too wounded. That was the last time Kauss allowed himself to cry in front of people. That was the last time he'd had any good sleep. Since then, nightmares have plagued his mind. |
