Yay! alright..

So, I should probably warn you that I'm not at all a conventional thinker. Which is to say, I challenge any and all formalities and only keep the ones I sincerely see are practical and useful. Anything is subject to analysis, and therefore can be discarded if it's found to be unproductive.

In simple English, I never do anything because "everyone else is doing it". That extends to coding. Um, to be honest, it sorta bothers me that most RP sites I see, or proboards in general for that manner, have the same basic structure..... c__c

Which is to say, the Smangii side tables, starting with the Plot, then maybe Staff, then Chatbox, then random stuff, and then Affiliates. I find a lot of that stuff bulky and unnecessary. Furthermore, simply making a site unique and with a different structure than the rest already puts you a step ahead of them in terms of competition as well as in attracting new members.

Adding Blank Pages to the Forum:

What this code does it make it possible to create as many blank pages as we need for the site! I cannot stress how important this is to a successful forum. And this is also one codes that most proboards don't know about. I actually made it with the help of a friend. You won't find it in any code index or listing.

The way this code works is by making new boards to the forum, but removing the actual board itself, and using the board's headers/footers to place all desired content inside of it. The board must be placed in a category that is set to Invisible. I just made an example of this here:

I kind of discovered that one by screwing up Smagii's side boards..... I decided to make a game out of it XD

Anyway..

Do you think it'll work with alike an image... Would the image place the board similar to that?

It's rather important that there be no other codes in between these two. So the Header code should be at the very bottom of the header and the footer codes should start at the very top of the footer.

Also, I do think side table codes have the potential to look awesome.
The following sites are examples of what I'd consider well made traditional proboards RP sites.

They take the traditional layout of side tables [welcoming, admins, chat box, etc] and add artwork to them. They've pretty much mastered the traditional method. Um, this is one approach to proboards. What do you think of these sites?

However, there are more methods than just the traditional, and the traditional style can only go so far. But, for instance, take a look at the following paid forums:

These forums have thousands of members and are very successful. It's possible to make a proboards look exactly like these sites, and better - and function more or less the same way. ;D It just takes some beastly coding.

What's the difference?

In traditional proboards sites, basically the Main Page displays everything the site has. It stops right there. While these paid forums have tons of other pages and places on the forum to explore. It's the difference between 2 dimensional forum and a 3 dimensional forum. A 3 dimensional forum will attract a lot more members, but of course, there is the homeyness of a small forum.

I think a middle ground could be made..?

Anyhow these are all just ideas! Um, everyone has different tastes. What type of forum do you like best?

Hmm me? I like 8 members activity.. Like 8 extremely active member Not too many members and not to less.. Just have someone always on.. Always willing to hang talk and post.

I like forums that have extreme skins and sideboards.
I am so jealous of people who can make there own images! It makes you feel so guilty for using others. Though the problem with the image making is the fact.. if you work a long time on it.. it breaks your heart when everyone leaves.. That pain isn't as strong when you don't work as hard.

In rpgiging wise.. I can't stand high expectancy forums.. I feel under pressure.. It makes rpging less fun. To me the whole point to post is to brag about your characters and to feel them.. Understand them. While hanging out and having fun at the same time.

If you notice the difference between the two sideboards....

The left one reaches the top looking more neat.. However the other one.. has that awesome log in plus that little link thing..

Then I noticed at Fallen into the sky.. The welcome board is on top. Which is by the most awesomeness thing I ever saw! Not to mention the part of the background image holding the board.. That looks neat.

I bet it'll look awesome with your Right board.



I have a question. You know the category code.. The one with the boards in it when you click the categories.. Do you hate that one? cause it seems to me you have to click more things to learn all you want.

Umm you get what I'm saying? The category picker code.. Where you click the category on it.. Then below it'll show all the boards on that category...
